Walt Whitman to Emily Ingram, 20 March 1890


Thanks for the beautiful Bermuda white lilies wh' arrived in perfect order & are now in a big stone water cup before me—(one sent to the sick lady next door)

Emily Ingram was the daughter of William Ingram, a Quaker who ran a Philadelphia tea store and was a friend of Whitman's. Emily graduated from Penn Medical University and provided care at prisons in the region.
