notation in another hand at the very bottom ("297—Doubleday Queries to
70th Year"). The lines were revised and published as "Queries to My Seventieth
Year" in 1888.

Heavily revised draft, signed, of "Queries to My
Seventieth Year," a poem first published in the May 2, 1888 issue of the
New York Herald.
It was reprinted in
November Boughs
(1888) and included in the "Sands at Seventy" annex of
Leaves of Grass
(1891–92).
