Sir:

The Attorney General directs me to acknowledge the receipt of your letter (without date,) making inquiry as to whether there are any papers on file in this office in relation to reporting arguments in the trial of the New Almaden mine case, & to say to you in reply that a search has failed to discover any correspondence or papers on file in this office, on the subject.
