October 2, 1866. To Hon. O. H. Browning, Secretary of the Interior. Sir: By direction of the Attorney General, I transmit herewith the account, approved by him, & amounting to Five hundred dollars, ($500.00) of Jno. K. Valentine, for services as Assistant to Charles Gilpin, Esq., U. S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania; & request its payment out of the appropriate fund. Very respectfully, &c. M. F.
