Secretary of the Interior.

Sir:

By direction of the Attorney General, I have the honor to transmit herewith the account, approved by him, and amounting to Five hundred dollars ($500.00) of L. H. Boutell for services as assistant to Jesse O. Norton, Esq. U. S. Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois, for the quarter ending Sept. 30, 1866—and to request its payment out of the appropriate fund.
