Oct. 24, 1866.

To

L. V.B. Martin, Esq.

U. S. Dist. Attorney

Mobile, Ala.

Sir:

I am directed by the Attorney General to send you the enclosed copy of a letter from the late Attorney General to your predecessor, relative to the case of J. M. Fomeny. Mr. Worrall failed to make any reply to it, & it is quite possible that he also failed to notify you of it. These instructions have not been modified, & you are to be guided by them in the matter.

Very respectfully, &c

M. F. Pleasants,

Act'g. Chief Clerk.
