U. S. Attorney

Dover, Del.

Sir:

I am directed by the Attorney General to transmit you a letter from the Secretary of War, of this date, requesting you to act as counsel for the Commandant at Fort Delaware, in certain cases of Habeas Corpus, sued out before Judge Hall, in behalf of some prisoners held in military custody at that Fort.—and to request you to act in accordance therewith.

The papers & records in the case will be forwarded to you from the War Department,—and you are referred to that Department for any further information or instruction in the case, you may need.
