Sir:
The Attorney General directs me to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 6th inst. relative to an action of ejectment pending in the Circuit Court for the Northern Dist. of Illinois, to determine the ownership of 640 acres of land in Grundy Co., worth about $30,000, & requesting leave to inspect the correspondence on file in this office relating to the same—& to say in reply that the Solicitor of the Treasury has had charge of the suit mentioned, & the correspondence referred to is on file in his office. Your letter has accordingly been transmitted to that officer.
