Memphis, Tenn.

Sir:

In reply to your letter of the 8th ult. I am directed by the Acting Attorney General to say that you are hereby authorized to employ Mr. M. L. Perkins as your assistant, at an annual compensation of Fifteen Hundred Dollars.

His accounts should be sent, quarterly, to this Office, with a certificate from you that the services have been rendered.
