Secretary of War, ad interim.

Sir:

I am directed by the Attorney General to transmit to you for your information a copy of a letter received to-day from William Dorsheimer, U. S. Attorney for the Northern District of New York, in regard to the defense of certain soldiers indicted for murder at Plattsburgh, Clinton county, New York, in the month of March last.
