United States Attorney.

St. Augustine, Fla.

Sir:

I am directed by the Attorney General to acknowledge the receipt of your report of the 6th inst. in the case of the Messrs. Fairbanks, under the confiscation laws, and to say that you are instructed to take the same course in this case as was taken with the other confiscation cases at the March term, 1866, under the orders of the late Attorney General, Mr. Speed. I enclose herewith a copy of a letter of this date on the subject to the Messrs. Fairbanks.
