Secretary of the War ad interim.

Sir:

The papers covered by your letter of the 4th inst. requesting the Attorney General to institute proceedings for the recovery of a sum due to the United States from the South western Iron Company, for rations furnished to the employés of said company, has been appropriately referred to the Solicitor of the Treasury.
