April 3, 1868. Hon. C. C. Hewitt, Chief Justice, Supreme Court, Washington Ter. Sir: In reply to your letter of the 1st instant, and for the reasons therein stated, I am directed by the Attorney General ad interim to say that you are hereby granted leave of absence until June 1st 1868, as requested.
