The Hon: The Secretary of the Interior.

Sir:

I have the honor to transmit herewith the account, approved by me, and amounting to Fifteen hundred dollars, ($1500:) of J. Hubley Ashton, Esq. for services as special counsel to assist the Attorney General, in cases in Supreme Court of the United States, at December term, 1867; and to request its payment out of the appropriation for defraying the expenses of suits in which the United States are concerned under the Act of March 2, 1867. (14 Stats. 448.)
