May 2, 1868. O. F. May, Esq. Clerk, Auburn Prison, Auburn, N. Y. Sir: In reply to your telegram of the 1st instant, I am directed by the Attorney General ad interim to say, that pardons are issued from the State Department. This office has no knowledge as to the date of the one referred to. Your telegram has been referred to the State Department. Respectfully, &c. J. A. Rowland, Clerk.
