Secretary of the Treasury.

Sir:

The Secretary of the Interior has referred to this office your letter of the 11th instant, transmitting a copy of a letter addressed to the Commissioner of Internal Revenue, by D. Patton, Assistant Assessor, relative to the United States Judge for the District of Kansas.

In reply, I have the honor to enclose herewith, for your information a copy of our letter of this date to the United States Attorney for that District
