By direction of the Attorney General, ad interim, I have the honor to request that you will furnish this office with copies of the letter of General U. S. Grant, Secretary of War ad interim, dated October 7, 1867, and the accompanying report of the Adjutant General and Paymaster General of the Army, relating to bounties to certain Indian regiments—the originals having been mislaid or lost.
