Hon. Ulysses Mercer,

Towanda, Pa.

Sir:

I am directed by the Acting Attorney General to say that he has transmitted a copy of your letter of the 26th instant, relative to the case of Azor Lathrop, to the United States Dist. Attorney for the western District of Pennsylvania, Robert B. Carnahan, Esq. at Pittsburg, with instructions to forward to this office a full report of the facts of the case.
