November 9, 1868.

Hon. C. C. Clay,

Huntsville, Ala.

Sir:

Mrs. Clay having brought to my notice the subject of the proceedings, now or heretofore pending against you or your property in the District of Alabama, with a suggestion that it was apprehended that some steps to your prejudice might be taken in the premises at the coming term of the Court for that District, I have addressed the District Attorney a letter on the subject, of which I beg leave to enclose a copy for your information.

I have the honor to be,

Very Respectfully,

Wm. M. Evarts,

Attorney General
