Sir:
I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 17th inst. enclosing a communication from the Commissary General of Subsistence, dated the 29th Jan. last, & other papers, requesting that the U. S. Attorney for Kentucky be instructed to institute criminal proceedings against Edward C. Wise, a claim agent of Catlettsburg, Kentucky.
The proper instructions have, accordingly, been given, with directions that the accompanying original papers be returned to your Dept. when no longer required.
