Secretary of the Treasury.

Sir:

I have the honor to request you to issue a warrant on the Treasurer of the U. S. in favor of Messrs. Sumner & Culter, of Washington, D. C. for the sum of Two Thousand dollars, ($2000:) and charge the same to the appropriation for legal assistance, & other necessary expenditures in the disposal of private land claims in California.
