April 12, 1869. Hon. J. D. Cox, Secretary of the Interior Sir: I have the honor to transmit herewith the account, approved by me, and amounting to $1538:40, of Caleb Cushing, for counsel fees and expenses of suit in the case of Kimberly vs. Butler;—also the account, approved by me, and amounting to $1000:00, of William Schley, for counsel fees in the same case; and to request their payment from the appropriate fund.
