Hon. Hamilton Fish,

Secretary of State.

Sir:

I have the honor to enclose herewith a copy of a letter dated the 6th inst. from Evariste Laroche, Chargé d'Affaires and Consul General of Haiti, relative to the steamer "Florida"—and to request that you will return to this office the copy of a letter from the U. S. Marshal from the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, relating to the same subject, which was transmitted by me to you on the 17th ultimo.
