July 17, 1869.

Hon. Geo. S. Boutwell,

Secretary of the Treasury.

Sir:

The enclosed papers, including among those received from the U. S. Attorney of Massachusetts, a copy of a letter of Attorney General Stanbery of April 10, 1867, relating to the employment, and account for the professional services, of Hon. B. R. Curtis, are referred to your Department. I have no doubt the services were rendered, and consider the amount stated to be reasonable.

Very Respectfully, &c.

E. R. Hoar,

Attorney General.

Acc't of Hon. B. R. Curtis.
