Hon. Geo. M. Robeson,

Secretary of the Navy.

Sir:

I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of July 26th inst., requesting me to instruct the U. S. Attorney for the District of New Hampshire to defend a suit ag't Lieut. Commander H. B. Seely. In compliance with your verbal request subsequently made, no instructions have yet been sent to the District Attorney to that effect, and no further action will be taken until some further communication from your Department.
