Sir:

Enclosed you will find a draft on the Treasury of the United States for Four Thousand and seven hundred and fifty-dollars, ($4750:) in full for bill rendered of Five thousand dollars ($5000:) less income tax, ($250,) for services in the prosecution of Jefferson Davis by the Government. Please acknowledge its receipt.
