October 20, 1869. Hon. Geo. S. Boutwell, Secretary of the Treasury, Sir: I have the honor to request that you will issue a Warrant on the Treasurer of the United States, in favor of Bushrod Birch, Esq. Disbursing Clerk, Treasury Department, for the sum of $2870:45, and charge the same to the appropriation for the salaries of the Attorney General, Assistant Attorneys General, Clerks, and Messenger of this office, for the month of October, 1869. Very Resp. your obd't serv't, E. R. Hoar, Attorney General.
