Hon. Geo. M. Robeson

Secretary of the Navy.

Sir:

In accordance with your request made orally to me, I have the honor to transmit enclosed herewith the papers relating to the claim of Wm. M. Mead, a clerk to the Inspector at Boston, Mass., sent to me by the late Secretary of the Navy, with his letter of the 10th of June last—and I shall give no opinion upon the question submitted by that letter, unless you desire it.
