Sir:

I have the honor to enclose herewith, for file in your Department, a deed of release from Frank M. Pixley, to the United States, of all his right and title to the Island of Yerba Buena, in the Bay of San Francisco, and also a copy of a letter from him dated October 11, 1869, under cover of which that deed was transmitted to this office.
