February 21, 1870. Hon. Wm. Dennison, Columbus, Ohio. Sir: The Attorney General directs me to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 18th instant, and to say that in accordance with your request a memorandum has been made upon the application of Dr. Thrall that your recommendation of him for the office of U. S. Marshal for the southern District of Ohio, has been withdrawn. Very respectfully, your obdt servant, M. F. Pleasants, Chief Clerk.
