The Attorney General desires me to say that he has no copy of the opinion referred to in your letter of the 26th inst., but that it was dated May 20th, 1869, and published in the New York papers, (certainly in the Tribune,) a few days thereafter.

Very respectfully,

M. F. Pleasants,

Chief Clerk.
