March 21, 1870. N. C. Briggs, Esq. Hollister, Monterey Co. Cal. Sir: The Attorney General directs me to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 9th instant, in relation to a grant called "Cienaja de Gabilan," and to say that he has referred it to the Commissioner of the General Land Office, with whom you may in future correspond. Very respectfully yours, M. F. Pleasants, Chief Clerk.
