Sir:

I have the honor to transmit herewith, for your information, a copy of a letter from the Attorney General to D. W. Houston, Esq., U. S. Marshal for the District of Kansas, dated March 22d, 1870, in relation to the custody of money belonging to the United States, in his charge, and a copy of his reply, dated the 30th ultimo.
