June 9, 1870.

Hon. Hamilton Fish,

Secretary of State.

Sir:

Your letter under date of yesterday enclosing a telegram from the U. S. Marshal of California relative to the proceedings of the master of the British ship "William Wilson" has been received. I do not find any thing in the communication which, I think, requires any action by your Department, and I will so inform the Marshal.

Very respectfully,

E. R. Hoar,

Attorney General.

the ship "Wm Wilson"
