J. S. Wise, Esq.
Richmond, Va.
Dear Sir:
Your favor of the 8th inst. is received, and I am glad to know that the case of Madison will be attended to. You will please communicate, as you may have occasion in the future, with the War Department—as my only connection with the matter was, at the request of the Secretary of War, (having made the acquaintance of your father,) to write the letters which I have before sent.
Very respectfully,
E. R. Hoar,
Attorney General.
