Sir:
In reply to your application of the 6th inst. the Attorney General directs me to say that you are hereby allowed leave of absence from your District from August 1, to November 1, 1870, as therein requested.
The Attorney General directs me to add that the length of this leave of absence is justified by the circumstances detailed in your letter, but cannot be regarded as a precedent for future applications.
