Assistant Attorney General.

Sir:

I send enclosed a copy of a Resolution of the Senate of the United States, dated June 17, 1870, asking to be informed in regard to the practice of the Court of Claims in the matter of remanding, for further evidence or argument, cases submitted—and desire that you will prepare, as soon as possible, a formal communication to be submitted to me, that I may examine it, and, if approved, send it to the senate
