Sir:

I have the honor to transmit herewith an extract from a letter of R. McP. Smith, U. S. Attorney for the Middle District of Tennessee, dated the 14th instant, in relation to a quo warranto suit against James H. Holman, formerly an officer of the regular Army of the United States; and to request that you will furnish this office with a duly certified copy of the oath referred to.
