Sir:

In answer to your letter of the 30th ult. I beg leave to say that I have taken the opinion of the Department of the Interior, and that the Acting Secretary declines making any recommendation for the postponement of the case of Jesse T. Reynolds.

Under these circumstances I do not think it my duty to interfere.
