New Haven, Conn.

Sir:

The Attorney General directs me to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 4th instant, in reply to his circular letter of October 13th.

In accordance with your suggestions, sixteen copies of the circular have been forwarded to you; and the Attorney General desires me to add that he will be much obliged by any assistance which his Excellency the Governor can conveniently give him in the preparation of the statistics desired by Congress.
