Hon. Hamilton Fish,

Secretary of State.

Sir: I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 12th instant, in relation to the steamer "Quaker City."

A communication from me to the District Attorney at New York, of which a copy is enclosed herewith, will show you what has been the action of this Department in the matter.
