December 10, 1870. Hon. Hamilton Fish, Secretary of State. Sir: I am directed by the President to request you to issue a Commission appointing James R. Beckwith to the Office of Attorney of the United States for the District of Louisiana, agreeably to the enclosed resolution of the Senate. Very respectfully, &c, A. T. Akerman, Attorney General.
