December 13, 1870. Hon. Hamilton Fish, Secretary of State. Sir: I am directed by the President to request you to issue a commission appointing Charles D. Drake to the office of Chief Justice of the Court of Claims, agreeably to the enclosed Resolution of the Senate. I am, Sir, very respectfully, &c, A. T. Akerman, Attorney General.
