Hon. Cornelius Cole

Senate of the United States.

Sir:

I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 21st inst. and to inform you that the compensation of W. W. Morrow, Esq. the Assistant Attorney of the United States for California was increased to four thousand dollars per annum, ($4000) to take effect on and after the first proximo.
