District Judge United States,

District of Alabama.

Sir:

I have the honor to enclose herewith a commission appointing Hiram Springfield to be Marshal of The United States in and for the Northern District of Alabama,—and to request that you will deliver it to him, when he shall have given the official bond, and taken the oath required by law.
