January 7, 1871. Hon. Adelbert Ames, U. S. Senate. Sir: Upon examination of the record in the Yerger case in the Supreme Court, no agreement of the character mentioned by you this morning has been discovered. It merely appears that the case was dismissed, by consent of the Attorney General. Very respectfully, &c. B. H. Bristow, Solicitor General, & acting Attorney General.
