January 14, 1871. James R. Partridge, Esq. Sir: The letter asked of the State Department has been received. Should it not reach me before you leave, I will cause it to be sent to you under envelope to the Governor of Texas, at Austin. Very respectfully, A. T. Akerman, Attorney Gen'l.
