Feb. 4, 1871.

Hon. W. W. Belknap,

Secretary of War.

Sir:

I enclose to you a letter from Milo Kittredge, of New Jersey, who represents himself as a discharged soldier who has lost his discharge by the burning of his house, and desires another. As I suppose the materials for supplying such loss are in your Department, if any where, I respectfully refer his communication to you.

Very respectfully,

A. T. Akerman,

Attorney General.
