Sir:

I have received your letter of the 4th instant, soliciting a renewal of your Commission as Justice of the Peace for the County of Washington.

In reply, I have to inform you that before your application can be considered, it will be necessary for you to file testimonials of persons known to this Department, as to your character, qualifications, and fitness for the office to which you desire to be reappointed.
