Hon. Hamilton Fish,

Secretary of State.

Sir:

I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 8th inst. enclosing a communication from Sir Edward Thornton, K.C.B., the British Minister, at Washington, in regard to the case of the British Brig "Three Sisters," and her cargo, wrecked on the coast of Florida.

The action of this office in the matter will appear from the enclosed copy of a letter addressed by me to the District Attorney of the U. S. for the Southern District of Florida.

The enclosures in your letter are returned, agreeably to your request.
